Paris College of Art (PCA)
CASE STUDY IN THE INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION SECTOR
Paris, France
Opportunity: Having learned of Harriet Speaks' unique approach to diversity and inclusion that prioritizes the ability of individuals to have effective dialogue and resolve conflicts related to difference, the Paris College of Art (PCA) sought an opportunity to equip its diverse student body with these skills.
A workshop of 140 PCA students featured the following content related to topics of diversity and inclusion (in a domestic and international context):
1) Adopting a compassion-centered approach to diversity and difference
2) Having productive conversations around diversity (race, gender, religion, country of origin, and economic class)
3) Utilizing a tool for resolving conflict around diversity
Impact: This training was transformational and unique; it was the first of its kind to be offered by the school. In addition, PCA students and faculty received a customized guide for self-reflection on the above topics. PCA students provided exceptionally high evaluation scores for the session and indicated that it was beneficial.
